I was recommended this book by the author's son.
A quick read of the synopsis and I realised it was my type of book.
I won't add any spoilers however, I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book from the first page. If you are like me and you are not interested within a few pages then you know the book is not for you.
I was sucked right into this story as if I were a fly on the wall!
Ellie with her dad and Grandpa Jo were so relatable and believable, we got to know them fairly quickly and fell in love with their relationship. Ellie is coming up to her 16th birthday and finds out that she has special powers, and within a very short time, she will have to use her new powers to save her friends.
The story is up-to-date with climate change, loss of habitat, and animals in danger of extinction.
My imagination took off with the impeccable descriptions the author provided for each character in The Underworld it was as if I was watching it as a film or program on TV. There were no continuity issues and the book flowed well from start to finish.
I found that I was on an emotional roller coaster and at times my heart was in my mouth as I followed Ellie and her new friends through the caves and catacombs between The Underworld and The Forbidden Underworld to fight the bad guys! As I said no spoilers so if you want to know what I am talking about- better buy a copy!
I feel that this is not the end and if/when the next book is published my name is down for a copy. If you like shapeshifters, talking animals, and good against evil then I highly recommend this book. It is suitable for teenagers, young adults, and upwards - this book is suitable for all ages (I am no spring chicken!)
